An EMI calculator works out your Equated Monthly Installment — the fixed amount you'll pay every month on a loan until it's fully repaid. Whether it's a home loan, personal loan, or vehicle loan, this tool takes the principal, interest rate, and tenure and gives you the exact monthly figure, along with the total interest you'll end up paying over the life of the loan.
Banks often quote interest rates without making it obvious what that actually means for your monthly budget. This tool exists to translate rate and tenure into a real number you can plan around, and to let you test different tenures to see how much a longer loan period actually costs in extra interest.
EMI is calculated using the formula [P × r × (1+r)^n] / [(1+r)^n - 1], where P is principal, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of months. It looks complicated written out, but the calculator handles it instantly — for a ₹5,00,000 loan at 9% annual interest over 5 years, the EMI comes out to roughly ₹10,379 per month, with total interest of about ₹1,22,740 over the full tenure.
Equated Monthly Installment — a fixed amount paid every month that covers both principal and interest until the loan is fully paid off.
Yes, a longer tenure lowers the monthly EMI but increases the total interest paid over the life of the loan — it's a tradeoff between monthly affordability and total cost.
Yes, the same EMI formula applies to home loans, personal loans, and vehicle loans — just enter the correct principal and rate.
This calculates based on a fixed annual interest rate converted to a monthly rate; it doesn't account for floating rate changes during the loan term.
No, EMI here is purely principal and interest — any processing fees or charges from your lender are separate and not included.
